Does the Xbox 360 hold the PS3 back in terms of multiplatform games?

Was just reading the news that some things may have to be taken out of FFXIII PS3 version if it doesn't fit onto the 360 version. Now the PS3 should be miles ahead in terms of gaming than the 360 considering its capabilities with blu-ray and such (no disrespect to the 360) but I think on multi-plat games, developers want to create an equal experience so the PS3's power ends up getting wasted just because the xbox doesn't have that power. And because of this and the 360's somewhat superior online service, it is able to keep up with the PS3. *This is just my opinion only and is not necessarily fact*

i think the 360's huge install base as well as the difficulty of developing for the ps3 contribute to developers catering more towards the 360. however, i do feel like we're beginning to see the capabilities of the ps3's hardware stand out a little bit more with games like killzone 2 and uncharted 2. the graphics on those games are undoubtedly the best seen today.

I dont mind if there are good games on PS3 and not Xbox 360. I only have an Xbox 360 so if there are any games that i wanna play on PS3 i just go over to a friends and play them.

Well...in my opinion...multiplatform games have to be able to run on an xbox 360 because they already know that is would run on a PS3.

The do hold back the PS3. The developers, instead of doing what they wanted to do, end up making it so that the game only takes up on disk on the 360 and takes away from the PS3. I agree with the Final Fantasy XIII example. It's not going to be nearly as amazing anymore. Multiplatform games are more of ports from the 360 to the PS3.

I agree to a very large extent that Multiplatform games rock harder on the Xbox 360 than on the ps3. But in the last one year or so the developers are now making games on the ps3 and than on the 360. So its a bit even stevens for now.

Well graphical I believe it like this:
Exclusive: PS3>360
Multiplatform: 360>PS3

One thing that can hurt PS3 is if the rumor for Activision to stop making games for PS3. I read an article that they were possibly going to stop making games for PS3 as they are not turning the profit they get from games made for the 360

Exactly what I was saying yesterday with Modern Warfare 2 and Guitar Hero not being on the PS3 could be a huge blow to them.

I can't see Sony totally folding the PS3 - but if the Activision thing were to go thru and they no longer made games for PS3, I'd be less likely to purchase a PS3 - right now I wouldn't mind one so I could play games like Infamous & Uncharted.

I guess guitar hero and cod are just too big franchises if Activsion plans to drop them for the ps3 ! I guess one area where sony have kinda of failed this gen is that they have listened less to the developers !

Yea...Since Call of Duty and Modern Warfare and Guitar Hero are some of the biggest franchises out there...then this would put a damper on PS to even remain a system.

well it wont be that bad. Remember sony does have RFOM and huge franchise in Killzone

Call of Duty sells more than both of them lol

^^ it sells more than them if the ps3 version is included ! Modern warfare sold somethng like 4 million copies alone on ps3 !

I am just saying that it is a big name game.

I heard a report that MW2 is on track to outsell any game ever released, and they are just going on pre-order sales. Last report I heard was MW2 already has just shy of 1 million pre-orders between 360 & PS3

I have had this same feeling for a long time. It's only a matter of time before we will some things changing in the gaming world.

Well they said Activision will look into it in 2010 so we will get MW2.

Activision won't drop the PS3. The company is trying to maximize profits and while they may not be making a ton of money from the PS3 they are still making money from it. They won't just throw away money. Besides imagine what would happen to their reputation if they were to drop an entire console install base.

Well if Activision dropped Sony, then they would count as exclusives to 360, and 360 would reign supreme.
